The team struggles continued this week as the banged up colts faced the less-than-steller KC Chiefs. In fact the game had an erie deja vous feel to it as the defense dominated. The offense sputtered. And the game came down to a field goal. But on a day when Vinitieri coughed up additional misses, he came through when it counted... Drilling a chip-shot with t seconds remaining to give the Colt's a 23-20 win.
Both Harrison and Ugoh were inactive again, so the pressure on Peyton continued, and the timing was off for much of the game. To make matters worse, a case of stone hands infected the receiving corps, most notably from Dallas Clark who bobble-dropped some key catches, ending the series.
As a fan, however, you can't help but feel the team growing into it's new skin. The injuries we've suffered have definetly changed the look of the team from it's first half dominance, but not enough to excuse the 2 very winnable losses. The hope is that as our guys work back into the lineup, we should emerge even stronger in time for another playoff run. And with the Steeler's loss to the Jets sunday, we remain in shape to hold on to the 2 seed in the AFC. And considering our current state of health, the rest of the season can be officially titled 'The Fight For The Bye'.
